Summary:CoPt 3(1 1 1) films grown on WSe 2(0 0 0 1) substrates consist of dense ensembles of monocrystalline nanostructures with lateral size smaller than 10 nm. For growth temperatures below 150°C an easy magnetization axis perpendicular to the film plane is observed with 100% remanence. Above 150°C the easy axis switches in the plane with the occurrence of L1 2 chemical ordering. In comparison with continuous films, the preparation of nano-structured CoPt 3 films leads to a lowering of the temperature range where perpendicular magnetic anisotropy appears.
