Summary:The kinetic changes of air-oxidation of UO 2 by additive addition and irradiation were investigated. Several kinds of specimens, such as unirradiated-UO 2, simulated-UO 2 for spent PWR fuel (SIMFUEL), unirradiated-Gd-doped UO 2, irradiated-UO 2 and -Gd-doped UO 2, were used for these experiments. The oxidation results represented that the kinetic patterns among those samples are remarkably different. It was also revealed that the oxidation kinetics of irradiated-UO 2 seems to be more similar to that of unirradiated-Gd-doped UO 2 than that of SIMFUEL.
