Non-linearity and hysteresis effects in the variation with temperature of the isomer shift in Eu 2O 3

An anomalous variation with temperature of the isomer shift in Eu 2O 3 has been found. This is interpreted in terms of the passage of the oxide through order-disorder phases or pseudophases. The hypothesis is supported by the observation of hysteresis effects.
