The effect of vitamin B 6 deficiency on the free amino acids and two aminotransferases of white muscle from Salmo gairdneri Richardson

1. 1. After rainbow trout had received a vitamin B 6-deficient diet for 1 week, aspartate aminotransferase activity in their white muscle was lower and the free alanine level was significantly higher. 2. 2. Aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, glutamic acid, threonine and lysine lev...

Summary:1. 1. After rainbow trout had received a vitamin B 6-deficient diet for 1 week, aspartate aminotransferase activity in their white muscle was lower and the free alanine level was significantly higher. 2. 2. Aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, glutamic acid, threonine and lysine levels in the white muscle of rainbow trout were considerably lower after the animals had received the deficient diet for 3 weeks. 3. 3. Following 1 week on a complete diet after receiving the vitamin B 6-deficient diet for 3 weeks, the glutamic acid, serine and threonine concentration in the white muscle of rainbow trout were still significantly lower than in the white muscle of animals which had received the complete diet for 4 weeks.
