Investigation of absorption from the lower laser level 4I [formula omitted] of the erbium ions in the lutetium garnet

The results of experimental and theoretical investigations of the absorption of the pumping lamp radiation from the excited ( 4I 13 2 ) level of erbium ions in LuAG are presented. It is shown that absorption from this level has the same order of magnitude as from the ground state.
