Summary:Single crystals as large as 6×2×0.3 mm 3 of high temperature superconductor YBa 2Cu 3O 7−x (1:2:3) as well as single crystals of a new compound of approximate composition Y 0.8Ba 2.1Cu 0.15Pt 0.9O 6 were prepared from a composition rich in Cu and Ba under an oxygen pressure. Single crystals of 1:2:3 were characterized by XR, microprobe analysis, resistivity and DC magnetic analysis.
