The characteristic of current trends in the development of the Russian automotive industry is issued. The main contradictions and problems that require the participation of the authorities are revealed. The effectiveness of the state regulation measures of the industry under conditions of sanctions pressure on the Russian economy is estimated. The possibilities of using the methods of cluster policy in order to ensure the competitiveness of the Russian automotive industry are considered. The conditions of the cooperation with foreign partners and prospects for the international economic integration are specified.
