Summary:Layered double hydroxide compounds (LDHs) was added to tire sidewall rubber to prepare LDHs/rubber composites. The dispersion state of LDHs in the rubber composites and its effects on curing characteristics, mechanical properties and aging resistance of the tire sidewall rubber compo-sites were studied. The results showed that LDHs was interspersed between carbon black particles to form uniform dispersion. LDHs could promote cure, shorten curing time, improve tensile stress and tear strength, and improve aging resistance of the rubber compo-sites. When the amount of LDHs was 4 phr (mass), the tensile aging coefficient increased by 25.7% compared with the composite without LDHs.
