Summary:The departmental council of the Indre-et-Loire owns several historic monuments that are very popular with tourists. It also has an archaeology service which is responsible in particular for the study of these monuments. It is in this context that, over the last ten years, the council has been using digital technologies, both for documentary and scientific purposes and to enrich the visits to the monuments. This paper proposes a retrospective survey that explores the principles guiding the selection of images and processes. It examines the limits of the new technologies and underlines the points of vigilance needed to prevent digital projects from becoming costly and not very useful mirages.
