Summary:The oceans are a crucial site for economic advancement in the modern era, and a robust marine industry is vital for establishing a powerful maritime nation. This paper analyzes the theoretical mechanism of the digital economy enabling the high-quality development of the marine economy from the perspective of five development concepts. Based on the data from 11 coastal provinces and regions in China from 2013 to 2020, the PLS-SEM model is used to empirically test the influence mechanism of the digital economy on the high-quality development of the marine economy. The results indicate that the digital economy has made a substantial contribution to the high-quality growth of the marine sector. Furthermore, the study of the impact mechanism found that the digital economy plays a significant role in the two dimensions of innovation and openness, but there is still much room for improvement in the promotion of the two dimensions of coordination and green.
