Summary:This study is to show that there is a relationship between temperature qradients of time dependent heat conduction problems with and without phase change in the same medium. The solidification problem is solved by using analytical and numerical methods for three different types of boundary conditions in cartesian geometry. The results are correlated with the results of problems without phase change. These results have been found to be correlated with multiple correlation coefficients ranging between 0.98 and 1.00, which is statistically significant.
