Summary:Funerary archaeoentomology reveals the importance of insects in the understanding of the life of past populations and provides new interpretative keys of funerary practices. Few archaeoentomological studies have been devoted to pre-Hispanic mummies, despite their high prevalence in most museums around the world. The environmental conditions of the South American continent and the excellent conservation of insects through time are factors that legitimize the realization of archaeoentomological and paleoparasitological studies.
