Summary:In this stduy, the anatomical and postural changes of the cervical vertebrae due to the use of the cervical headgear were investigated. The changes in 10 patients (6 females+4 males) with the CI.II div. 1 malocclusion and the mean age of 9.1 years at the beginning of the study, who were treated only with the cervical headgear for a mean period of 1.8 years, were compared to the spontaneous changes in 10 subjects (5 females+5 males) with the same malocclusion.the mean age of 9.5 years at the beginning of the observation period, and an avarage duration of 1.9 years without any treatment. As a result, only a little anatomical change was observed at the first cervical vertebra, atlas, and no other significant effects was observed at the other cervical vertebrae due to the cervical headgear treatment.
