Summary:Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the most frequent disease among men of middle-aged, older, associated with increasing of lifetime of men and diagnosed in 42% to 87%. The purpose of our study is to improve the diagnosis of BPH without complications and with urine retention. Transrectal sonography was performed in 77 patients with BPH with assessment of blood flow by Doppler. The speed of blood flow measured in subcapsular and paraurethral arteries with estimation of diameter and speed of vein drain into the paraprostatic veins. Transrectal sonography showed the changes of the prostatic blood-flow especially in case of BPH with urine retention. Transrectal ultrsonography plays an important role in evaluation of the prostatic blood-flow.
