Summary:Objective To summarize the experience of nursing care of patients with severe alopecia areata treated with topical diphenylcyclopropenone. Methods Seventeen patients with severe alopecia areata treated with topical diphenylcyclopropenone were enrolled. Before the treatment, self-protection was given to the therapist and informed consent was given to the patients. During the treatment, the principles of procedure and drug dosages were strictly followed. After the treatment, WeChat APP was used in the follow-up management of patients. This management included one-to-one evaluation of and consultation on efficacy, adverse reactions, diet and psychology. Results Seventeen patients completed the 16-week treatments, with an effective rate of 58.82%. The adverse reactions were mild and controllable. The therapists did not experience any adverse reactions such as allergic reactions.
