Summary:Background: quality management is a set of coordinated activities, as a system, to lead an organization in terms of quality.Objective: to analyze the influence of the process of professional improvement in quality management system and good laboratory practices on the performance of professionals who work at clinical laboratories of the province of Camagüey.Methods: a research on health system and services was carried out from January 2015 to December 2019, with a study population of 126 professionals who took courses in quality management system and good laboratory practices.Results: both courses were designed and taught to 126 professionals, out of whom 68,25 % were receiving diploma courses. The highest matriculation belonged to the 2016-2017 academic year with 55 participants. There was an increase in the scientific production with 22 publications, participation in 34 conferences and congresses and presentation of 68 research works. Besides, there was a development of two master’s degrees, five specialization theses and six dissertations of diploma courses. Four associated research projects were designed and are being executed.Conclusions: the study showed how professional improvement in quality management and good laboratory practices made it possible to increase the scientific production among professionals who work in clinical laboratories.
