Summary:Dayah has been successful in establishing a society with an expansive knowledge of Islam. Moreover, Islamic boarding school education steers students away from extreme thought and cultivates tolerant individuals. Dayah has attempted to reconcile with modernity without sacrificing identity, and he has been successful in his efforts to propagate religious beliefs throughout Aceh. Inseparable from a historical social analysis is the study of Islamic boarding schools in the context of modernization; this has implications for the research methodology used to collect data. Based on this reason, the qualitative framework of historical sociology informs this study's research methodology. Researchers employed interviews and documentation to acquire data. The researcher collects historical facts on the development of Dayah. Consequently, Dayah historical data subsequent to independence are required for this investigation. Research results found that the Acehnese have benefited and benefited greatly from the existence of Dayah which has spanned many social dynamics of generations. Prior to the Dayah's involvement in modernisation, Dayah was primarily responsible for religious development at the start of independence. The phenomena that occur in social life cannot be denied that the people's desire is for their children to become experts in the practical field of religion, on the other hand they also want their children to be able to work in order to get a decent economy. This is where the dayah seeks to respond to this phenomenon in the cadre formation of ulemas, the cadres in forming ulema undergo changes which give birth to professional cadres who take part in various lines of community life. The influence of the dayah has a positive influence not only as an educational tool to instill religious values, but also plays a role in building society. Generations that continue to deepen their Islamic values create a sense of security for families and communities. Of course, in this case, the development of dayah is inseparable from traditional and modern concepts. So, in responding to this modernization, the dayah seeks to guide students to become human beings with Islamic personalities who are capable of becoming Islamic preachers in society through their knowledge and deeds with their religious knowledge.
