Summary:The subject of this article is the linking of a hypothesis-driven case study in literary studies with the application of digital humanities methods. Primary texts of the analysis are thirteen longer narrative texts by the German-language contemporary author Uwe Timm (novels and novellas, a legend). I derive hypotheses from one of his self-statements about the work, which I analyze by means of computer-assisted stylometric procedures. The aim is to build a bridge between a computational analysis and human readings in order to arrive at new insights into the literary work of the author.
