Summary: | Aim of the study Correlating the value of the Ki-67 proliferation index and the response to treatment of patients with non-Hodgkin lymphomas presenting at least one cervico-facial location, so that the doctor can at an early time estimate the patient’s evolution and response to treatment. Material and methods The study was carried out on a number of 30 patients diagnosed with and treated for non-Hodgkin lymphomas having at least one cervico-facial location and the value of Ki-67 proliferatice index (PI) in the anatomo-pathological test. The patient’s response to treatment was observed according to age, sex, the anatomo-pathological type of the lymphoma, the stage of the disease and the value of the Ki-67 index. Results The average value of the Ki-67 proliferative index was 73%. Over 75% of the patients had a value of the Ki-67 PI over 60%. The only parameter in the study that influenced the response to treatment was the Ki-67 proliferative index. High values of Ki-67 PI were correlated to an unfavorable response to treatment. Conclusions The Ki-67 antigen has an undoubted prognostic value in cervico-facial non-Hodgkin lymphomas, being strongly connected to the patient’s response to treatment. |
