Este cuento formó parte del concurso de relatos con contenido matemático organizado por el Grupo de Innovación Educativa Pensamiento Matemático, de la Escuela de Caminos, Canales y Puertos de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. El contenido matemático del relato se centra en dos aspectos: la codificación y las bases numéricas, en concreto la decimal y la binaria, como medio para encontrar y detener a un fugitivo.
