Summary: | This study examines the interaction and content production on the Twitter accounts of the
presidential candidates in Ecuador, Andrés Aráuz and Guillermo Lasso. The importance of
interaction on social networks is highlighted, allowing users to get closer to the candidates, express
criticism and share their needs and expectations. Aráuz shows a higher number of interactions
despite having fewer posts, while Lasso actively responds to user comments. Both candidates avoid
direct attacks and focus on promoting their campaign proposals. Regarding the production and
dissemination of content, they mainly use videos and photographs, and take advantage of the option
to quote other users' tweets. However, the use of other resources such as audio, surveys or live
broadcasts is not evident. In terms of ideology and values, the candidates prefer emotional
messages and share personal aspects to connect with citizens. In short, Twitter becomes a relevant
space for the exchange of ideas and citizen participation in elections, allowing voters to analyze
the candidates' proposals. However, there are challenges related to the digital divide and access to
technology and education of users in the country.
