Summary: | This paper seeks to show how is the wage discrimination between men and women in Brazil, regarding that, historically, men owns superior wage. It is explained that there are three theories of discrimination on the market, the employer’a discrimination, statistics and by monopoly power. There is wage discrimination by gender in both the public and private sector, although in private it is higher. In 2013 a woman received on average 73.7 % less, and its average salary were R$ 1,392.00 and R$ 1,890.00. Women, on average, have higher education, even if not receiving more. The main reasons for discrimination are experience and age, and, usually women seeks employment with lower workload and that requires less responsibility and experience, being that a considerable share work in the informal market due to lack of experience.
Este artigo procura mostrar como se encontra a discriminação salarial entre homens e mulheres no Brasil, considerando que, historicamente, os homens têm rendimento maior. É explicado que existem três teorias de discriminação no mercado, a discriminação do empregador, a estatística e a por poder de monopólio. Há discriminação salarial por gênero tanto no setor público quanto no privado, porém, no privado é maior. No ano de 2013 a mulher recebia em média 73,7% menos, sendo o seus salários médios R$ 1.392,00 e R$ 1.890,00. As mulheres, em média, possuem maior escolaridade, mesmo recebendo menos. Os principais motivos para a discriminação são experiência e idade, e, normalmente as mulheres procuram emprego com menor jornada e que exijam menos responsabilidade e experiência, sendo que grande parte trabalha no mercado informal devido à falta de experiência. |
