Summary: | The work addresses the conception of continuous time as another form of measurement in
accounting, uncovering information, motions or oscillation of variables that, through a discrete
representation of the economic reality, stay as hidden patterns, or simply not revealed to the
decision agents of the entity. The variables are examined in a direct or derived way, susceptible
to generate stable or oscillatory movements and the characteristic of the records originated by the
measurement of those variables, being objective transactions or discretional estimations. The lasts
will show dispersion around their estimation ranges, but also, movement or oscillation. Then, discrete
measurement cannot exhibit differences between alternatives efforts and neither is able to explain the dynamic of the flows, be them financial or economics. Effects of a continuous representation
are shown, disclosing the hidden functions for traditional discrete series. Finally, actual information
systems allow to start the complementary disclosing of continuous variables, at least between a given
range, and besides, allow to study volatility correlation of natural series with discretional estimation,
in a way that it could be possible to uncover patterns of coherence among levels of stability in the
movement of the variables and low spread of the discreetness and also the inverse; volatilities in both
cases, or in a different way, find out asymmetries between oscillation of independent variables and
discreetness, in one or another direction.
