Summary:The public university has the opportunity to move towards a redefinition of those who have been its traditional tasks: the academic (in general), teacher training (in particular) and the production of knowledge. We deal here with the teacher training provided by the National Central University with a focus on certain academic ethos and problematizing the ways in which it creates and recreates, in the field of education, some cleavage (and subsequent ranking) between theory and practice. La universidad pública tiene la oportunidad de transitar hacia una redefinición de aquellos que han sido sus quehaceres tradicionales: la formación académica (en general), la formación inicial docente (en particular) y la producción de conocimientos. Hemos de ocuparnos aquí de la formación docente en la Universidad Nacional del Centro haciendo foco en cierto ethos académico y problematizando los modos en que se crea y recrea, en el campo de la educación, cierta escisión (y posterior jerarquización) entre la teoría y la práctica.
