Summary:The present study aimed to verify the occurrence of Leptospira spp., georeferencing of outbreaks, risk factors and zootechnical profile of goats in the Regions of Chapadinha and Itapecuru-Mirim - MA. 1260 blood serum samples were collected from goats from 126 properties distributed in 22 municipalities. The samples were subjected to the Microscopic Serum Agglutination (SAM) technique. A socio-epidemiological questionnaire was applied to determine the zootechnical profile of goat farming and the associated risk factors. There was a prevalence of 93% of 630 animals and 100% of 126 herds. The serovars responsible for the highest frequencies were Sentot with 36.03% (227/630), Autumnalis 35.56% (224/630), Andamana 26.67% (168/630), Pomona 25.87% (163/630), Hardjo 24.60% (155/630), Hebdomadis 21.59% (136/630) and Shermani with 20.79% (131/630). In most of the reacting herds, the system was extensive in continuous grazing, in contact with flooded areas and other species, in addition to not having technical assistance. The results obtained indicate the high frequency of Leptospirosis, where goat farming reflects subsistence.
