Summary:The article is devoted to the peculiarities of using the critical thinking and reflection in the conditions of blurring the boundaries between nano-, bio-, information technology and cognitive sciences. The regularities and interrelation of reflection and critical thinking of the individual in the information society are studied. The article attempts to reveal modern views on the nature of thinking, to analyze the concepts of "reflection" and "critical thinking", to explore the interdependent connections and relationships between them. It is noted that due using the latest technologies, it is necessary to re-evaluate the functions and role of reflection and critical thinking in the modern information environment of human development. The discovery of new properties of brain structures (introduction of the concept of "default network") requires understanding of the laws of its work and taking into account when determining the role, functions and capabilities of reflection and critical thinking. Given the results of recent research, it must be acknowledged thinking critically means understanding we have prejudices that unlike to get rid of. Only by realizing our own bias do we have the opportunity to abandon them and embark on the path of finding alternative solutions of our own.
