Summary:Traffic congestion and the questionable safety of two-lane roundabouts are two justified criteria for the introduction of turbo roundabouts. The increase in capacity, which also results in an increase in the level of service, is a positive aspect of this alternative type of roundabout. Also, reduced number of conflict and collision points at the exits and intersections at the turbo roundabout as well as lower vehicle speed, increase safety, compared to classic two-lane intersection. The mentioned advantages justify the need for improving existing overloaded roundabouts. Therefore, the subject of this article is the reconstruction of the existing two–lane roundabout with two entrances and exits, in Podgorica, at the intersection of “Josipa Broza Tita Street” and “V Proleterske brigade Street”, into a turbo roundabout.
