Students’ Educational Strategies in a Situation of Uncertainty

An urgent problem of the organization of students' education is the formation of their ability to overcome difficulties arising from the development of new knowledge. They are caused by the fact that the student periodically faces uncertain situations related to the fact that there are several options for solving problems that have arisen in his studies. The purpose of the article is to analyze the ways of behavior of a person in a situation when it is necessary to find the best course of action. Based on the materials of a sociological study of students of the Ural Federal University of Yekaterinburg, conducted in 2023, educational strategies used by them to reduce risks in a situation of uncertainty in achieving the desired results are shown. It is shown that a more adequate strategy is one that takes into account the individual's capabilities and ability to implement tasks related to obtaining professional knowledge, their implementation in practice. At the same time, it is proved that due to the peculiarities of some risks, which are associated with ignorance of all the outcomes of overcoming them, it is impossible to calculate possible negative results. It is possible to reduce the uncertainty in resolving the difficulties students face, but it is difficult to completely avoid risks.
