Summary:Modern-day trade demands the settlement of massive payments. In the present scenario, no economy can be expected to sustain without the adoption of digital payment systems. The government is taking many initiatives to prepare India for a digital future. This article explains the digital payment techniques available to users and identifies the determinants responsible for the adoption of digital payment methods in rural areas. Further, we study the accessibility of various methods of digital payments by rural users and the challenges faced by them. By conducting a qualitative survey involving in-depth interviews with residents, we aimed to understand their experiences, preferences and barriers to adopting digital payments. This article is descriptive and uses a primary data collection method. Our findings shed light on the prevailing digital divide, including infrastructural, financial and educational constraints that hinder the full potential of digital payment systems in rural National Capital Region. This research underscores the need for targeted interventions and policy initiatives to enhance financial inclusion and bridge the digital gap in these communities.
