Summary:Saft developed a new Li ion cell limiting cell aging between -40oC and 85oC. It avoids Li deposition, electrodes de-percolation & swelling. This new cell design address issue of the state of art Li ion cell which are not able to work both at LT (-20°C and below) and at HT (+60°C to +85°C), without a strong cell electrical performances degradation. It sustains a long calendar life or floating period at 4.1V-4.2V @ 60°C, without a strong electrical performances degradation, and/or a rapid opening of the circuit breaker  in link with internal cell gas generation. It limits cell self heating at end of discharge during high rate discharge at elevated temperature environment. It has 10 years life floating at 4.2V. This cell has three layers of safety protection and compliance to international safety standard.
