Summary: | SAFT’s goal is to study and understand the source of the gas being generated in LTO-LMO cells:
What are the design factors that impact the gassing?
What are the process factors that impact the gassing?
What is the relative importance of the factors?
What is the gassing mechanism?
Different electrode formulations were tested showing dramatically different gassing rates (see figures below). In addition, SAFT will share the outcome of recent electrolyte screening, cycle life improvement and impedance growth reduction experiments. From the results the mechanism of LTO gassing can be inferred and will be discussed.
