Summary: | The infection caused by the tapeworm Echinococcusgranulosus leads to the development of hydatic disease. Itis the most frequent mediterranean parasitic infection thatcommonly affects the liver and rarely involves multipleorgans. Herein, we report an exceptional and confusingpresentation of hepatopulmonary and splenic hydatidosisdue to Echinococcus granulosus that caused diagnosticproblems occuring in a 70-year-old man, treated withchemotherapy, with favorable outcome. This was a veryunusual case of disseminated hydatid cyst highlighting theinterest of keeping a high level of clinical suspicion of thisdiagnosis every time we have a cystic lesion of the liver. |
