Bibliography:First-line treatment of epilepsy is drug therapy. The development of antiepileptic drugs has lasted over one century. From traditional antiepileptic drugs which were for sale before 1978 to new antiepileptic drugs which were for sale after 1993, the studies of pharmacological mechanism, efficacy and adverse reactions have obtained some new progress. Some new drug clinical trials were carried out in recent years and are promising for clinical use in the future. Some possible targets,mechanisms and pathways with antiepileptic function are hot areas of current research. This review reveals the research progress on the pharmacological mechanisms of generations of antiepileptic drugs and some new possible mechanisms of antiepileptie drugs.
