Summary: | An inexpensive BF3·Et20-catalyzed annulation reaction of arylacetaldehydes with arylalkynes has been developed. Various substituted phenylacetaldehydes and phenylacetylenes can undergo this reaction, producing corresponding α-aryl substituted naphthalene derivatives.
