Summary: | This paper presents a discourse analysis in the business e-mail communication with the aim of determining formal and informal linquistic characteristics. Researched corpus has been based on 148 e-mails exchanged between a manager employed in a marketing agency and his clients. The research is based on Speech Act Theory and Theory of Politeness. It has been found that the analyzed business e-mail correspondence is mostly characterized as informal, even with the characteristics of colloquial communication, unlike the expected characteristics of formal business style. |
