Summary:The article verifies the thesis put forward by Anna Agnieszka Dryblak in her book on foundations of female convents in thirteenth-century Poland by the Piast dyna- sty. According to the Author, these were established as a result of the delayed recep- tion of the “dynastic monastery” model sha- ped in the tenth and eleventh centuries in the milieu of the imperial court of the Otto- nian dynasty. The analyses of the foundation process of the monasteries that are the sub- ject of the Author’s research do not confirm these theses. The monasteries were founded in a highly individualised manner. Their connection to the ducal dynasty was much weaker than to individual female founders. The similarities in the history of the cases analysed were due to the typical course of the foundation process and nesting (implan- tation) into the social environment.
