Summary: | Lithium-ion Batteries (LIBs) are an important facet of modern society. They are the subject of much research interest due to the increased demand for electric vehicles and their prevalent use in portable electronics, such as mobile phones and laptops. There are many ways in which battery performance can be improved, once such route is through the use of electrolyte additives. This project, in collaboration with Sony and Murata Manufacturing, focuses on electrolyte additives that affect the formation of the solid electrolyte interphase layer (SEI), a film that forms upon and protects electrodes. |
