Summary:Abstract A new species of the nuuanuid amphipod genus Nuuanu from the littoral marine habitat of Tangga Batu, Melaka, is presented. Nuuanu othmani sp. nov. is morphologically most similar to N. beatricis Jaume & Box, 2007 from the Balearic Islands, Mediterranean, by having a blunt cephalic lobe, an accessory flagellum of the antenna 1 with 3 articles, and a cleft telson with divergent lobes. However, the new species is clearly distinguished from N. beatricis by having well-developed eyes, small dorsodistal spines on pleonites 1-2, a slightly concave posterior margin of the basis of pereopod 5, and the telson lacking a terminal spine. Detailed morphological comparisons with other related species are also discussed. A key to the females of the species of this genus that occur in Southeast Asian waters, is included as well.
