The organometallic anion in tetraethylammonium-tricarbonyl(3,5-diphenylthiacyclohexadienyl-1-oxide )molybdate and its tungsten analogue can be halogenated by treatment with iodine, C N·Br , and I,I-dichloroiodobenzene to yield neutral [η -C (C SO]M(CO) X complexes (M=Mo, W; X=Cl, Br, I).
