Summary:Measurements of the grasping hand can be used in order to infer properties about grasped objects such as shape, size, and even object id. Therefore, ambient exploration and ambient information collection can also be accomplished by recognizing hand postures and gestures while users grasp and manipulate real-world objects. We show how such an extrinsic-oriented exploration scenario can be used for designing ambient games. The approach encourages freedom of interaction by allowing players to immediately use any object present in the environment as an active element inside the game.
