Summary:We have studied the computer based applications of composition, music theory and analysis, software synthesis, and music notation for well over two decades. The most important result of these activities is PWGL, a modern visual computer program with the emphasis on music and sound related applications. In this paper we give a brief overview of PWGL and discuss how it could be developed into a pedagogical environment. PWGL has many advanced features that would make it ideal for developing study material in the context of music and sound. It should be of interest for both teachers and students in various levels of education.
