Arylsulfonylaminoalkylation of indoles

Indole and its C- and N-methyl derivatives react with N-(2,2,2-trichloroethylidene)arenesulfonamides, yielding 3-(2,2,2-trichloro-1-arylsulfonylaminoethyl)indoles.
