Stereoselective olefin metathesis of omega-enosugars: A highly versatile one-step approach to higher carbohydrates

A versatile strategy consisting of a metathesis reaction of carbohydrate derived terminal olefins and subsequent osmylation offers a quick access to higher sugars. The stereoselectivity of the metathesis reaction was investigated.
