Summary:The development of smart cities and the popularization of intelligent buildings have opened up new avenues and technological tools for the preservation of cultural heritage. This paper focuses on the digital preservation of ancient buildings, using BIM (Building Information Modeling) reverse modeling methods for research, with an emphasis on exploring the application value of multisource heterogeneous data fusion in the protection of ancient buildings. Typical ancient buildings were selected as subjects, and modern technologies such as laser scanning and photogrammetry were used to collect multisource data, which was then pre-processed and feature-extracted to construct high-precision BIM models. By comparing and validating various data fusion strategies, the study demonstrated that this method can significantly improve modeling efficiency and accuracy. Additionally, the research delved into the core mechanisms by which data fusion optimizes model quality. The findings indicate that multisource heterogeneous point cloud fusion technology has demonstrated significant advantages in the digital preservation of ancient buildings, as evidenced by its ability to capture comprehensive spatial information and overcome scanning blind spots. However, the technology also faces limitations, such as the need for further improvements in data acquisition strategies and the integration of diverse data sources. Future refinements are essential to enhance the effectiveness and applicability of these technical approaches.
