Summary: | In this study, we present the design and implementation of an experimental stand tailored for the analysis of hydrogen explosions with the capability of modifying the propagation direction. Hydrogen explosions pose significant safety concerns in various industrial settings, and understanding their behavior under different conditions 1s crucial for risk assessment and mitigation strategies. The experimental setup integrates precise control mechanisms to manipulate the direction of explosion propagation, allowing for systematic investigation of explosion dynamics and their effects on surrounding environments. We describe the key components of the experimental stand, such as the ignition mechanism, confinement chamber, and data acquisition system, including Schlieren techniques mainly used for capturing images of the flame front behavior. Additionally, we outline the experimental procedures for conducting controlled explosion tests with varying propagation directions. The versatility of the experimental stand enables researchers to explore diverse scenarios and assess the impact of propagation direction on explosion characteristics such as pressure dynamics and flame velocity. Through comprehensive analysis of experimental results, insights can be gained to enhance the safety measures and design considerations for hydrogen handling facilities and related industrial processes |
