Summary:A new species, Sphinxis yunnanicus Legalov, sp. nov. from Yunnan (China) is described and illustrated. The new species is closely related to Sphinxis uniformis Kojima et Morimoto, 2000, but differs in that the rostrum is longer than the pronotum, the elytra are narrower towards the apex, the mesosternal process is distinctly broader than the coxa, and the integument is thinly covered with greyish to dark setae. This is the first record of this genus from mainland China.
