Summary: | The Johns Hopkins Center for Innovation in Quality Patient Care was created in 2002 to improve Hopkins' health care delivery systems by coordinating the efforts of interdisciplinary teams of physicians, nurses, and managers to gather data, evaluate changes, and recommend and implement best practices. It recommended that educators and accreditation, licensing, and certification organizations ensure that students and working professionals develop and maintain proficiency in five core areas: delivering patient-centered care, working as part of interdisciplinary teams, practicing evidence-based medicine, focusing on quality improvement, and using information technology (IOM, 2003). |
