Summary: | Packaging uses for ultraviolet/electron-beam (UV/EB) laminating adhesives include labels, flexible packaging, folding cartons, and other converted-product applications. While the use of UV laminating adhesives for labels is already a well-established technology, the field of radiation-cured adhesives also appears well suited to flexible packaging and carton converting. Four different types of UV/EB-curable laminating adhesives for packaging have been identified: 1. UV laminating adhesive, 2. UV pressure-sensitive laminating adhesive, 3. UV post-curing laminating adhesive, and 4. EB-curable laminating adhesive. With their advantages in lower cost, higher production speeds, product enhancement, and broad material compatibility, UV/EB laminating adhesives will continue to find greater applications in the packaging field. |
