Summary:Social innovation processes in Venezuela are being driven by the national government through research, scientific-technological knowledge and by interaction among different actors. The objective of this study is to analyze social innovation in the public organizations centralized in the State of Zulia. A data collection instrument was applied, focused on establishing the favoring factors, describing the characteristics and identifying the typology of actors that intervene in social innovation processes in the organizations under study. The research was carried out using a descriptive mode with a non-experimental, cross-sectional field design. The population consisted of five (5) public organizations centralized in the State of Zulia; the key subjects were the directors, coordinators and trained technical personnel. The collected data permitted establishing that, in general terms, the aspects analyzed empower social innovation in the organizations under study. Conclusions indicate that public organizations in the State of Zulia carry out processes oriented toward organizing and directing the available resources, human as well as technical and economic, to increase benefits and the quality of life for communities.
