Summary:Strategic communications represent a major transformation area in the road towards Network-Enabled Capabilities (NEC). As militaries across Europe are currently identifying the leading factors affecting their communication needs mainly through the requirement for increased amount of data and image transmission, SATCOM, long-range radio and fixed comms are at the center of attention. Mostly due to the fact that the nature of conflicts has been progressively moving from territorial defence towards expeditionary warfare, MoDs are keen to exploit the available technologies to enhance their operational capabilities.
